What’s next?

We are already a few weeks into 2015 but like every other year, I like to set myself a few goals to complete every year. I’ve found this to be a great tool to keep myself motivated and to reflect on how I experienced the past 12 months and how I changed during that period.

Be more positive

There’s so much hate, anger and frustration going on around me and I find myself engaging in it as well from time to time. I really want to stop falling into that trap and be more positive. Laugh more, bitch (even) less, enjoy life more and inspire people to do the same.

Rock the shiznit at De Persgroep

If you follow my blog and Twitter, you’ve probably caught the news that I’ve gotten a huge contract at De Persgroep in Brussels. My main (business-slash-career) goal is to totally rock it at De Persgroep this year. It’s a great client where I can learn so much stuff. And quite honestly, working on a platform that huge is insanely fascinating. The target is to stay there for at least a year and to make a really good impression.

Set an official world record

On September 17th, 2007, Rob Dyrdek set the world record for most consecutive heelflips in 1 minute to 15. I aim to break that somewhere later this year. It’s one of these things in life I just want to do once. I mean: Having a world record to your name in the Guinness Book Of Records… That’s official, right? Like a referee!

Lose weight, get back in shape

For the past couple of years, my weight hovered around 105kg and I don’t like as much in shape anymore as I used to. I need to change that. Both by trying to eat less and healthier and by doing more sports. Go for runs, go out to skate more, go swimming, anything. I need to go below the 100kg mark. Anything below 95 would be considered great.

Blog more, share knowledge

This one kinda speaks for itself. Something in my gut tells me I might be able to actually pull that one off this year.

Build more stuff

It’s been a while since I actually built personal projects. I currently work on and off on some NodeJS stuff, on some Twitter Bootstrap skins, on my Dooodl WordPress plugin,… All that stuff. I really want to push out some more stuff this year. Things of which I’m proud or which are good fun. I want to do more than just the work I do for clients.

Enjoy life

Go on holidays, do more stuff during the week, hang out with friends more often… The kind of things that somehow get on the back burner while you focus on work and nothing else.

Go racing more

I like to go go-kart racing. It’s great fun. I just don’t do it enough. Instead of always thinking “Man, I should go racing again soon” to myself, I should instead actually go.

That’s it. Those are mine. Clean and clear.
What are your goals in 2015?
