Pixel Particle Explosion Experiments

At the time most of my friends and colleagues were playing with pixel particle engines and experiments. Kris Temmerman had created a particle engine that would explode an image. However he let the image render for about 2000 frames and then save the result. I thought it would be a good idea to save every step of this rendering process and then make the whole thing move. And that’s what I did.
This project ended up with me building an Adobe AIR application that renders every frame and save a high quality PNG to the hard drive. After 6 hours of rendering I had a massive 15GB of images. I took all of it, threw it in After Effects added some depth to it and rendered the video. The result is below.
