A Deviner’s life A 3D engine and alpha videos

We were told to create a 3D room, using only the default 2.5D features in Flash Player 10. Right. That’s college-talk for ‘we want you to create your own 3D engine‘. So that’s what I set out to do. Using nothing else then the PerspectiveProjection class and the 2.5D features, I got close to creating a kind of cube class.
The site is basically a video blog. Every entry has 2 versions: A ‘normal’ version and a ‘alpha’ version. The ‘alpha’ version is only showing the moving parts of the video. That was done using some clever After Effects magic.
There was also the request to have a HTML sidebar with comments and ratings. I decided to make it a simple overlay with a straight forward animation. It used to work perfectly in all browsers, but as it turns out, browsers have changed. So sorry if you are seeing strange things in your browser
(I just wanted to put it out there).
