Come look at our latest creation: The iJoke!

I have been a Mac user for over 2 years and all of my close friends will somehow agree that turning Mac totally changed my computer experience. I haven’t run into that same kind of problems as I was when using Windows. I’m not complaining anymore about a very sluggish system etc (but I am complaining sometimes! We really need to get those SSD drives into those iMacs!). That means I really like what Apple creates, and I like how their products work for me.

The iPad

The iPad. Doesn't it look like it were a stretched version of the iPhone?(Picture taken from Engadget.com )

So: to the point. If you haven’t heard about Apple’s last new big thing, you probably lived on another planet for the past couple of weeks. Yes, I’m talking about the amazing iPad! I could start by talking about what a great piece of engineering this probably is (that thing is pretty thin, and it has a pretty big display so my guess is that this wasn’t easy) but that just wouldn’t do justice at all. Why Apple is doing a good job not allowing the Flash Player to be on the iPhone

I’m going to get shot down for this. I can already feel the finger on the trigger of the sniper on the roof across the street, aiming at my head… I love Flash, I have been playing and creating with Flash ever since I was 17 years old. But…

In the past 2 years there have been numerous times when people expected (and were insanely excited about) a full in-browser Flash Player on the iPhone and while I was one of the people hoping it would happen only a few months ago, I’m not so certain anymore.

Everybody is saying that once Flash Player 10.1 will run in the browser on the iPhone, you will be enabled to have a ‘full web browsing’ experience. But how do you expect the ‘full experience’ on a mobile device (in this case the iPhone)? Read the rest of this entry »

Flash on the iPhone? Orly…? Ya. Rly.

Well… Actually not… :-P

But: If you are a Flash developer and you know how to compile a SWF then as off today* you can build native iPhone applications using your current AS3 knowledge. Does that sound familiar to you? Well it should because Adobe did the exact same thing when they first announced Adobe AIR.

Adobe just showed a Flash CS5 preview featuring a ‘compile for iPhone’ demo. (Watch a similar demo here) Read the rest of this entry »

Three sixty five! Three sixty fiiiive!!!

Published by Ronny on September 27th, 2009 in Experiments, Projects, photography. 2 comments

About a week ago Dorien was talking to me about her blog. We were talking about 365-days projects. Personally, I’d love to do one myself but shooting a decent picture every day? Not gonna happen. I can’t find the discipline to take a shot using my DSLR every day. Not to mention the time invested in preparing the shot, getting it right, getting to your computer and uploading the shot… That’s (at least) a one hour job every day! During one year…

So I was thinking about a way of getting the shot wherever I want, whenever I feel like it, and upload it right away… I figured using my iPhone and some photography apps might do the trick. About an hour later I uploaded my first shot. I really like the fact that it is instantaneous. I shoot, I process, I upload it to Flickr. *magic happens* Wordpress gets the latest picture from my set on Flickr and displays it in the sidebar. Done.
It only takes a few minutes a day and I’m pretty sure that next year in September I’ll have a cool collection of pictures (which I’m planning to use in my next big project ;-) )

You can see the latest picture in the sidebar. And because I like the process so much, let me share how the workflow is like on the right. (From left to right: I take a shot, I edit it a bit and then I polarize it (and add the tag of the day)).
If you like it, check out my Flickr set which is updated daily (duh)!

If you’re interested in what iPhone apps I’m using:

  • Default camera app
  • Vint Green (take a shot and immediatly have it developed into a vintage green version)
  • TiltShiftGen (take a shot/open an existing picture and edit colors, vignette, blur (circle/tiltshift) (I love this one)
  • Polarize (convert the image to a polaroid: frame and color correction)
  • QuadCamera (get 4 shots one after each other into a single picture)
  • CameraBag (take a shot/open an existing picture and add one of 9 effects)

If you got any cool suggestions or ideas: just let me know :-)

Congrats Thomas and Boulevart

Man, I’ve been postponing writing a blogpost about Boulevart’s nomination for the Adobe MAX awards way too long (even though I promised I would post. Sorry guys). In fact I’ve been postponing this so long, that right now it’s too late.

However: Thomas Joos, his crew at Boulevart and Barefoot created a Flash Lite application that blew everybody away. Having said that: They won an Adobe Max award at Max Milan about 10 minutes ago. (That makes me the first one to report this, right? ;) )

I think this is incredibly cool since Thomas just finished school a year ago. I think he’s done some amazing work in the 12 months that passed.
You deserve it, Thomas. Congratulations to you and Boulevart for achieving this!
