FlashFocus reloaded (part 1)

Those who know me personally have undoubtably noticed a serious increase of FlashFocus activity in the past few days, and today I’m happy to announce that FlashFocus started the long awaited update.

FlashFocus went down for scheduled maintenance on Friday, June 12th. The team worked for 3 days straight in order to be able to present a new FlashFocus running from our new server over at our sponsor Easyhosting.

The work the team did during the past 3 days was the first big step in order to be able to roll out a lot of new features in the coming weeks.

If you speak Dutch and you’re intrested in Flash, Flex, Air, After-Effects or any other Adobe product, don’t hold back to join the biggest Dutch-speaking community on the web. Ask your questions, share your knowledge, show off your coolest projects.

The well-known slogan of FITC!

After having held successful events at Toronto, Chicago, Winnipeg, and Hollywood, last year FITC came to Amsterdam. I don’t have to tell you that Amsterdam was at least as successful as the other events. And in a little less than 2 weeks, FITC Amsterdam will kick off for the second time!

Only a few days ago FITC announced that the Amsterdam event was already sold out. Again. And I’m one of the lucky ones to go!
Also, no different than last year, Adobe Max Award winner Thomas Joos created an event guide for your mobile phone. Make sure you check it out!

I’ll be attending FITC for the first time, so I’m very excited.
I’ll be there with Jeroen Beckers, my FlashFocus colleage. If you’re there make sure to come by. I’d love to meet you guys (and gals)!

Soooo… Who’s coming?

Een blik terug op Multi-Mania 2008

Vorige vrijdag was het eindelijk zover: Multi-Mania ging van start.
Ik was er al om 8:30 aanwezig als FlashFocus pers-mens (wat een woord), en ik zag hoe de menigte binnen stroomde. Koen (de organisator van Multi-Mania) was heel enthousiast over 2M08 dit jaar, en dat was niet zonder reden.

De speaker line-up was wel degelijk mindblowing. 32 nationale en internationale sprekers, 4 afzonderlijke tracks, en meer dan 1000 bezoekers. Het was echt de moeite.

De dag begon met Serge Jespers en Jason Levine in de vorm van een keynote, waarin Flash CS4 uitgebreid werd ingeleid, en we kregen ook enkele sneak peeks te zien. Verder werden ook enkele ‘mogelijke features die misschien ooit mogelijks zullen aanwezig zijn in een wel dan niet toekomstige versie van een programma dat je op een bepaald punt in de toekomstige tijd misschien zult kunnen kopen’ getoond voor iets dat ‘lijkt op’ SoundBooth en Premiere Pro. phpBB3 testing

Ik heb vandaag voor enkele leden van FlashFocus.nl een forum opgezet zodat ze daar ongeacht de topics of andere regels erop los kunnen posten.

Toen ik hieraan begon had ik even nagekeken welke opties ik kon kiezen als forumsoftware. Na 2 jaar als FlashFocus Technical Manager mag het duidelijk zijn dat ik de gewoonte heb van vBulletin software. Jammer genoeg is op dit moment niet genoeg reden om de op zich toch wel dure software hiervoor aan te kopen (vBulletin is betalende software).

Automatisch dacht ik aan phpBB, maar dat was in mijn hoofd alweer afgezaagde software die niet erg mooi oogt.
Mijn FlashFocus teamcollega en voorzitter, Jorim Sint, runt naast FlashFocus ook zijn eigen Chemieforum op een vrij succesvolle manier. Hiervoor maakt hij gebruik van IPB, waarvan ik dacht dat dit wel gratis was. Maar toen bleek daar opeens te staan ‘Free Demo‘. Als je zoiets ziet staan weet je natuurlijk meteen hoe laat het is.
